Redfish on the Move, Trout Biting Early
Corpus Christi Bay - Nueces, TX
Inshore fishing around Corpus Christi is heating up with solid action in the flats and back bays. Redfish are cruising the grass lines and oyster beds, especially during moving tides. Anglers using live shrimp under popping corks or cut mullet near the potholes are finding consistent hookups. Sight casting is also productive during the early morning calm when water clarity is high.
Speckled trout are active during the first few hours of daylight, particularly along drop-offs and deeper edges near Nueces Bay and the King Ranch shoreline. Topwater lures are producing solid blowups at dawn, while soft plastics in natural colors are working well once the sun gets higher. Wade anglers are scoring near spoils and sandy transitions.
Black drum and sheepshead are still hanging around structure and pilings, taking shrimp and crab offerings. With light winds and warming water, now’s a great time to get out and fish the shallows before the midday heat slows the bite.
